Abdullah C. Akman was born in Adana in 1977. He graduated from Tarsus American middle school and Adana Fen Lisesi High School Later, he finished Hacettepe University School of Dentistry in 2001. Then, started his Periodontology training in the same Institution. He finished his degree in 2007 and later was assigned as Clinical Instructor in the department. In 2010, he received scholarship from Turkish National Scientific Research Committee (TUBITAK), and worked as a “visiting scholar” in University of Washington School of Dentistry. In 2012, he was promoted to Assistant Professor position and later became Associate Professor in 2013. He’s currently a Masters Degree candidate in “Stem Cell Sciences” program in Hacettepe University Health Sciences Institute.
He took active duties in Undergrad and grad education programs in Dental School since 2007. He currently acts as the vice chair of Clinical Sciences Department of Hacettepe School of Dentistry and Integrated Dental Clinic Training.
His research and clinical interests are periodontal regeneration and dental implantology. He’s the co-author of several chapters in the book entitled “Periodontoloji” and invited review on “Biological principles of periodontal Regeneration” and Bisphonates and Periodontal Tissues”. He has also published in peer reviewed indexed journals on periodontal tissue engineering and dental implant pathologies and is a co-author of the book chapter “Nanotechnology Applications in Periodontology and Dental Implantology”. One of his current research topic is periodontal and peri-implant pathologies in patients with rare genetic diseases.
He has presented lectures as invited speaker on “Bisphosphonate Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaws” and he lectures on Basıc Dental Implant Surgery in ICOI education programs in Turkey. His scientific research activities received national and international awards: 2006 ICOI- “Platinum Award”- 2010 ACTA Od. Scand. “Best Research Paper”, 2018 Turkish Association of Cancer Research ‘Best Research In Oncology”

Biography
Dr. Basma Ezzat Mustafa is the head of research and innovation , head of basic medical sciences unit in the faculty of dentistry in international Islamic university Malaysia , she started working there since 2009 in both academic and research fields, in research she is doing her researches in the field of pharmacology, microbiology and immunology in relation to oral health in addition to several researches in the field of natural product. Dr. Basma has 18 years of experience in this field. Her current interest is the pharmacological ,microbiological and immunological response of the use of different natural products during different pathological conditions in addition to the changes in cell viability and changes in gene expression during several oral health problems . She started her research in studying the response of the bacteria and fungi to different dental materials from different aspects microbiological, immunological and histopathological, l and immunohistochemical aspects.
Prof. Dr. Emre Bodrumlu graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry in 1998. At the same year he started PhD studies in Gazi University Health Sciences Institute, Department of Endodontics. In 2003 he got his PhD degree, at the same year he started as an assistant professor in Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Dentistry. In 2008, he got the title of associate professorship. In 2014 he started to work in Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Faculty of Dentistry as a professor. In addition, since 2016, he has been a Dean of Faculty of Dentistry.
Prof. Dr. Emre Bodrumlu published and presented many articles and abstracts in national and international journals and congress.
Assoc. Dr. Ertuğrul Güçlü was born in Eskisehir, in 1972. After completing his secondary and high school education at TED Ankara College, he graduated from Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Medicine in 1996. Between 1996-2004 he worked as a general practitioner in the health centers of the Ministry of Health. He worked as Infection Diseases and Clinical Microbiology specialist at Ardahan State Hospital in 2010-2011 after his residency training in Infection Diseases and Clinical Microbiology Department in Düzce University between 2004-2009. He began his academic career as an assistant professor in Sakarya University Faculty of Medicine, in 2015 and he was appointed an associate professor in 2015 at the same institution. He is the author and co-author of more than 50 international publications and more than 100 national and international oral and poster presentations. He is a member of professional associations such as Health and Civilization Association, Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology Specialty Society of Turkey and Viral hepatitis society. Associate Professor Dr Ertuğrul Güçlü speaks English, is married and has two children.
Dr. Akca graduated from Atatürk University, Faculty of Medicine (1994), worked as a practitioner in Emergency Service & Intensive Care Unit at Dr. Muhittin Ülker Traumatology Hospital in Ankara between 1994-2000. She had her Ph.D. degree from the Department of Medical Microbiology in Faculty of Medicine, Gazi University in 2006 and started working as a “Specialist Doctor” in the microbiology laboratory of the faculty of medicine, Ufuk University. She was first appointed to the position of lecturer in Microbiology and Oral Microbiology for Dentistry, Department of Basic Medical Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, Gazi University in 2006, and then promoted to the Assist. Prof. and the chairman of the Department of Medical Microbiology, Faculty of Dentistry, Gazi University. Dr. Akca earned her Assoc. Prof. degree in 2014 and has still been working in the same department.
PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
She is experienced in conventional microbiological laboratory techniques, especially in anaerobic bacterial culture, cell culture, and molecular microbial techniques. For over 12 years, she has worked on microbiological profiling of dental and periodontal pathogens, cariogenic strains, nosocomial bacteria, multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens, and their antibiotic resistance genes’ detection, antimicrobial effects of various endodontic, restorative, dental prosthetic, implants, orthodontic materials, herbal extracts, polymers, chemical agents and antibacterial resistance transmission between bacterial strains, as well as blood-borne infectious agents in dentistry (E.g., cross-contaminated viral agents such as HBV, HCV). Dr. Akca worked on the “National children health surveillance project” in Ankara which was supported by Roche and contributed to the documentation and preparation of reports regarding the project. Dr. G. Akca had taken part as principal investigator and researcher in many national projects which were funded by respectable national scientific research institutes (TUBITAK 1001, 1002, 4007, Gazi University, Center of Scientific Research, and other National Universities’ Scientific Research Project Divisions). Dr. Akca participated in international “ERASMUS” Teaching Assignment Mobility Exchange Program entitled “Quorum Sensing in bacterial interactions” for graduate/doctoral students which was carried on in Naples Federico II Veterinary Faculty-Italy, in Naples/Italy in 2013. Recently, she has been working on international scientific projects on the topics of “oral bacteria-bacteria and bacteria-host relationships,” and the emerging contaminants’ profiling of MDR Acinetobacter/Pseudomonas sp. Dr. Akca published 71 international and national articles on several decent journals and has a “h” index:12.
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
She has experience in serologic (Elisa), immunologic (Western blotting, flow cytometry) molecular microbiological techniques (PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR, DNA sequence analysis of bacterial types). She has worked on the various sterilization and disinfection methods against microorganisms especially spore-forming bacteria, antimicrobial effects of different materials, natural polymers especially chitosan-based oral mucosal drug delivery systems, herbal extracts, chemical agents, nano-technologic materials (colloidal silver and silver-nanomaterials), and horizontal antibiotic resistance genes’ transmission among facultative anaerobic and microaerophilic bacteria. She has been studying the periodontopathogens, lactic acid bacteria, dental infections, anti-cariogenic agents. She has experience with antimicrobial effects of new biotechnological materials (probiotics, prebiotics, chitosan-based polymers, chemical agents, zeolites, dental restorative materials, dental prosthetic materials, nano-antimicrobials, etc.)
Dr. Gursoy grauated from Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 2001. At the same year she started her PhD studies at the department of Periodontology in Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry. In 2005 she got PhD degree with her study entitled ‘’ "Neutrophil Function Examination Before and After Periodontal Treatment in Generalized Aggressive Periodontitis Individuals.’’ by the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Bahar Kuru. In 2006 she started to work as a lecturer in Yeditepe University Faculty of Dentistry. She got her Assistant professor title in 2007 and Associate Professorship title in 2015. Dr. Gursoy has published several articles in national and international journals. She is a board member of Turkish association of periodontology and European Federation of Periodontology. She is the secretary general of Dental Laser Academy. She is in editorial board of Cumhuriyet Dental Journal and Turkiye Klinikleri Journal and she is still the editor-in-chief of Yeditepe Clinical Journal, co-director of the Scientific Committee and the Periodontium Program, which is accredited by the European Periodontics Federation.
He was born in Iskenderun in 1974. Graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1998. Finished his ENT residency program at Ministry of Health Ankara Training and Research Hospital in 2003. After finished his mandatory duty in Emirdağ, Afyonkarahisar started to work at Sakarya Training and Research Hospital in 2009. He appointed as Asistant Prof. Dr. to Sakarya University Faculty of Medicine in 2013 and became an Assoc. Prof. Dr. in 2015 after examination. He still works at Sakarya University Faculty of Medicine Department of Otorhinolaryngology.
Mervi Gürsoy is an associate professor in periodontology at the University of Turku (Finland). She was awarded her DDS degree by the University of Helsinki (1999), and then her PhD in periodontology (2012) and her qualification as a specialist in periodontology (2013) from the University of Turku.
Her doctoral thesis was “Pregnancy and periodontium – A clinical, microbiological, and enzymological approach via a longitudinal study” and she has subsequently co-authored various research articles relating to periodontology and pregnancy, the most recent of which was “Salivary antimicrobial defensins in pregnancy” published in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology (October 2016).
Dr Gürsoy has received the Young Researcher award from the Scandinavian Society of Periodontology (2011), the Hatton award (clinical research, senior category) from the IADR/ Scandinavian division (NOF) (2011), the second prize of the Unilever/IADR Hatton award (2012), and the IADR/Philips Oral Healthcare Young Investigator Research grant (2013).
She reviews articles for numerous scientific publications in the field of periodontology and oral microbiology.
Currently she is a member of the European Federation of Periodontology’s undergraduate committee after being a junior officer (2015-2017). In addition, she has been a board member of the Finnish Society of Periodontology.

Dr. Nuray Tuloglu, PhD, DDS is an Associated Professor in Osmangazi University, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Pediatric Dentistry in Eskişehir. Dr. Tuloglu was born in Eskişehir, Turkey in 10.07.1982. She started her undergraduate education at Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Dentistry in 2000. After the graduation in 2005, she started her postgraduate education at Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Dentistry Department of Pediatric Dentistry in 2007. She got her PhD degree at from Ondokuz Mayıs University Department of Pediatric Dentistry with her research in the title of “Assessing the effect of two different materials in infected, immature permanent teeth treatment" in 2012, then Dr. Tuloglu founded the Pediatric Dentistry Department at Eskisehir Osmangazi University, Faculty of Dentistry in 2012. She continues her academic life at Eskisehir Osmangazi University. Dr. Tuloglu has many articles in domestic and international journals. She is interested in preventive dentistry, adhesive dentistry, dental traumatology and regenerative endodontics.

He graduated from Selcuk University, School of Medicine in 1989 and started practice in medicine as a physician in State Hospital of Goksun/ Kahramanmaraş. In the years from 1991 to 1995, he completed his PhD education in the department of Medical Microbiology at S.U. School of Medicine. In 1996-1999, he acted vice head physician of University hospital at S.U. and he contributed to process of hospital quality improvement. Then he moved to Afyonkarahisar to work in Afyon Kocatepe University School of Medicine Dept of Clinical Microbiology and took position as the director of blood bank. During the same period, he also acted as the director of the vocational school of health services. In the years from 1996 to 2002, he completed his PhD education in the Virology. He was promoted to associated professorship in 2005. Since 1999, he has been performing as director in blood bank. Within the Erasmus framework program, He visited Hungary as teaching staff mobility.
In June, 2008 - March'2009, first, he visited York University to study at the Health Management School for laboratory quality systems, for accreditation and patient safety research and then visited the Leeds University for NHS Teaching Hospital molecular virology lab and epidemiological studies. Altindis, who also has an MBA in management organization, was appointed as the chair of the Department of Medical Microbiology at Sakarya Unv Medical Faculty in 2013, and is currently serving as the President of Medical Virology and the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry. He publishes about 220 papers in different journals (70 international and 150 national)and also takes part in editorial boards in ten different journal and medical books. He is is married, with one child. He is fluent in English.
He graduated from Atatürk University Faculty of Dentistry in 1994. From 1994 to 1998, he worked as a dentist in a government agency and done his military service. He completed his PhD studies at Ondokuz Mayıs University between 1998-2003. In 2003-2005 he worked as a doctor research assistant in the same department. In 2005, he became an assistant professor at the Department of Endodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Karadeniz Technical University. He became associate professor in 2010 and professor in 2015. He is still lecturer in the same department.
After completing here primary and secondary education in Istanbul, she graduated from Selçuk University Faculty of Dentistry. She worked as a dentist in Konya for a while. In September 2003, She completed pregraduate degree programs of "Healthcare management" in Anadolu University and Master of Science in Microbiology of the Faculty of Medicine, Afyon Kocatepe University (AKU). On the one hand, she continued her dental practice in the AKU Medical Hospital and completed the Master of Business Administration Degree, Management Organization. Then, she started his PhD program in Business Administration and was able to work with Prof Russell Mannion at Health Management School, York University, York, UK for 12 months with TÜBİTAK 2214 scholarship to apply his thesis. She served as a founding member of the Faculty of Health Science, Healthcare Management Department, AKU, after returned to Turkey. Altındiş, who is an associate professor in 2012, is working as a lecturer at the Sakarya University School of Business Administration in July 2013. Altindis has books and work on issues such as job satisfaction, service quality, workplace and employee safety, patient safety, exposure to infection, sterilization / disinfection in dentistry, dental medical waste, oral hygiene motivation.
Dr. Solachuddin Jauhari Arief Ichwan is currently an associate professor at the Department of Fundamental Dental and Medical Sciences, and also holding post as Vice Chairman of Occupational Safety and Health Committee, Faculty of Dentistry, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Previously he was the Deputy Dean of Post-Graduate and Research. He completed DDS degree in 1996 from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Indonesia, Jakarta. He obtained Ph.D in Dental Sciences from the Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Tokyo, Japan in 2005. Further he was subsequently appointed as a research associate and post-doctoral fellow at the same institution. He joined IIUM in 2008. From then on he has been teaching core courses such as oral biology, medical microbiology and medical biochemistry. Throughout his academic career, he has published many papers in international and national journals. He has also been active as principal investigator or co-researcher of various research projects. Dr. Solachuddin has received numerous awards, scholarships, and research grants. The potential spread of infection caused by bioaerosol in dental setting is one of one of his research interest.
Ulvi Kahraman Gürsoy graduated from Gazi University in 1998 and awarded his PhD degree from Department of Periodontology in Cumhuriyet University in 2004. In 2005, He granted TUBITAK and the Finnish government scholarships and started his research projects at Helsinki University. In 2004, he awarded the IADR Senior Robert Frank 2nd prize by his PhD thesis project and in 2006 he awarded the Robert Frank Postgraduate Research Award by his postdoctoral research. He got his associate professorship title from University of Turku in 2010 and from Turkey in 2011. Dr. Gursoy continues to serve as a lecturer and researcher at the Institute of Dentistry in Turku University.
He mostly focuses on host-bacterial associations, host tissue modelling techniques and the use of saliva as a diagnostic tool in the diagnosis of periodontal disease in his research. Dr. Gürsoy has published over 70 papers in international journals. He is also board member of the Periodontology Society of Finland, He is General Secretary of the International Association of Dental Research (IADR) Scandinavian Division (NOF) and the Vice President of the Scandinavian Periodontology Association (SCSP)
Prof. Dr. Zeynep ÖZKURT KAYAHAN, was born in İstanbul in 1981. She graudated from Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 2004, at the same year, she started her PhD degree in Yeditepe University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Prosthodontics. In 2008 she got her PhD degree with her study entitled "Comparison of resistance to shear forces of veneer ceramics connected with different zirconia-based lower structures" . She was appointed as a lecturer at the same department by 2008-2010, as an assistant professor by 2010-2012 and as an associate professor by 2012-2018. She got her Proffesorship title at 02.05.2018 Prof. Dr. Zeynep ÖZKURT KAYAHAN is a vice-chair of Dean at Yeditepe University Faculty of Dentistry, Vice president of association of dental laser Academy, and co-editor of Yeditepe Dental Journal . She published many articles in national and international journals. She is a board member of European Prosthodontic Association (EPA) and Turkish Prosthodontics and Implantology Association. She is married and has 2 children.
